Also, Apple Silicon apps tend to use slightly less memory, but if you're using 32GB now, you still gonna need 32GB regardless of architecture. ![]() M1 is replacing lowest denominator in Apple lineup, it's amazing they can achieve insane performance, but the next level variant is definitely what you want. ![]() However, if you're planning to use this machine for important work, not for hobby, you should wait until the pro version of Apple Silicon came out. Yes, it can be fast etc, but it will never beat ASIC, specially in the same power requirements. M1 is full of ASIC chips, it's not even using GPU for encode/decode, when comparing it with GPU is like comparing bitcoin mining using GPU vs ASIC in 2020. Also, my 5700XT is lagging with multiple 422 4K streams. If you're using FCP, performance difference is night and day. ![]() To give you perspective, I have 16GB M1 13" MBP and Core i9 10900K (5GHz all cores) + 5700XT running hackintosh, with Resolve 17 Studio beta, the FPS different is basically tenfold for H.265 and ProRes (I don't use other codecs).
